Streamlining Operations Through NetSuite Implementation for a Power Systems Manufacturer
LIDD partnered with Surplec, a leading power systems manufacturer, to implement NetSuite. This strategic move aimed to overcome challenges from disparate systems, streamlining operations and enhancing data visibility. The successful transformation aligned Surplec with its parent company’s modern technology ecosystem.
General Context
The Client: Surplec, a leading manufacturer in the power systems industry, was acquired by Integrated Power Services (IPS) in 2023. IPS, a long-standing client of LIDD, had previously experienced a successful NetSuite implementation with our team. Pleased with the results, IPS sought to extend the same technological advantage to their new subsidiary, Surplec.
LIDD’s Mandate: Seamlessly Integrate Surplec into the NetSuite Ecosystem
Prior to LIDD’s engagement, Surplec relied on a disparate system of LCM and Excel for inventory tracking and financial management. This fragmented approach led to significant operational hurdles:
-
Siloed Business Processes: With seven distinct divisions, each operating under unique procedures and standards, Surplec faced widespread data inaccuracies. This lack of standardization resulted in a critical absence of financial and inventory visibility across its diverse operations.
-
Manual Overheads: The accounting team was burdened with extensive manual processes, particularly concerning the routing of inventory value, expenses, and time to Work-In-Progress (WIP) and subsequent rerouting to Inventory Assets. This manual intervention by the controller was time-consuming and prone to error.
LIDD was engaged by IPS with a clear objective: to seamlessly integrate Surplec into the NetSuite ecosystem, aligning their operations with the advanced technological framework already benefiting IPS. The goal was to eliminate existing data silos, enhance visibility, and automate critical financial and inventory processes.
LIDD’s Solution: A Tailored Implementation
LIDD’s approach involved a comprehensive NetSuite implementation, tailored to address Surplec’s unique operational complexities and integrate seamlessly with IPS’s existing system. Key areas of focus included:
-
Core Accounting Features: Centralized and accurate financial management.
-
SuiteProjects for Enhanced WIP Management: Customized SuiteProjects to manage WIP, consuming inputs to create outputs for stock or sale.
-
Automated Lot Number Tracking: Custom record for auto-creation of lot numbers, enabling detailed item and asset tracking.
-
Streamlined Customer Deposit Requests: Custom record to facilitate customer deposit requests, simplifying the order-to-cash cycle.
-
Automated Time Posting: GL plugin to automate time posting based on labor rates and multipliers, reducing manual effort.
